For municipalities across New Brunswick, energy costs are no longer a background expense but a major line item. As communities look for ways to operate more efficiently and sustainably, the need for practical knowledge, strong partnerships, and proven solutions has never been greater.
That’s exactly where the Energizing Efficiency Conference comes in.
Taking place May 26–27, 2026 at the Fredericton Convention Centre, this event brings together energy leaders and experts from multiple sectors across the province and Atlantic region – offering municipalities an opportunity to super-charge their energy efficiency efforts.
“This conference is the best opportunity to network with experts and individuals from other municipalities working in this space,” says Bruce Good, Energy Analyst and Project Supervisor with the City of Fredericton. “The cost of energy is a major budget item for municipalities now, and I believe it is fundamental for staff to be energy literate.”
These connections aren’t just surface-level, they often lead to tangible outcomes. Reflecting on last year’s event, Bruce recalled a conversation at a tradeshow booth with the Wood Pellet Association of Canada, which led to a facility tour and a firsthand look at their systems in action.
“In my opinion, this conference offers the best in-person learning opportunity on energy efficiency in the province,” says Good.
The conference brings together municipal leaders, engineers, energy advisors, and technology providers, creating a space where practical knowledge is shared, not just discussed. Municipal attendees can hear about best practices from experts, learn from colleagues in other jurisdictions, get visibility on what their community is already doing well and understand how to plan for the future.
“Discovering that there are real experts out there that are using newer or better technology, alternative approaches, or better data acquisition methods can help solve issues I have on the ground in my community,” Good explained. “At the same time, it gives me an opportunity to better understand how the City of Fredericton’s efforts compare with those of other municipalities, and to share our ideas, concepts and methods with them.”
Beyond inspiration and networking, the Energizing Efficiency conference connects municipalities with the tools they need to take action.
Attendees gain access to:
- Engineering firms that can conduct energy audits on municipal infrastructure.
- Energy advisors from SaveEnergyNB who can guide rebate programs.
- Proven pathways and strategies already being used by other municipalities.
These resources help turn ideas into implementable projects, making energy efficiency goals more achievable.
