On August 20 and 21, UMNB hosted its first Mayors School at the Crowne Plaza Fredericton, bringing together more than 70 mayors and deputy mayors from across New Brunswick.
With funding support from the Department of Environment and Local Government, the bilingual, 1.5-day event was open to all new and returning New Brunswick mayors, including those from communities that are not currently UMNB members.
The Mayors School provided an opportunity for municipal leaders to strengthen skills and knowledge specific to their roles, while connecting with fellow mayors and municipal leaders from across the province. Sessions covered topics including chairing effective meetings, working with council members and municipal staff, relationships with Regional Service Commissions, communications with media and citizens, and insights from experienced municipal leaders.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to making the inaugural Mayors School a valuable opportunity for learning, connection and collaboration.
