FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fredericton, NB – The Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick (UMNB) has released its 2025 pre-budget submission highlighting five key priorities endorsed by our municipal membership. These priorities continue to build upon ongoing commitments to fiscal reform, access to housing and addressing homelessness, infrastructure renewal and capacity building for all local governments.
President Merrifield emphasized the UMNB commitment to work in partnership with the Holt government so that all communities in New Brunswick can thrive during uncertain times.
“Our communities are on the front lines of these challenging times. This is why we are asking the government to keep its previous commitment and close the financial gap of $220 million experienced by municipalities. This investment will ensure the resiliency of our province in face of increasing challenges around housing, affordability, and an unpredictable economy. Our members are best positioned to help the province meet its objectives related to health, housing, affordability and a fair economy.”
